The publishing house «European House» published the memoirs of Aron Perelman the last owner of the famous publishing house “Brokgauz Efron”, one of the establishers of the magazine Jewish World and Jewish Historical and Ethnographic Society. The text was prepared by Evgeny Gollerbah, who made his research within the framework of the Grant programme of 2005 of the International Center for Russian & East European Jewish Studies.

The 4th Session of the International Forum of Young Scholars on East European Jewry

Budapest, 6-9 July 2009

The Leonid Nevzlin Research Center for Russian and East European Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in cooperation with the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at Leipzig University, the Jewish Studies Program at Central European University and the International Center for Russian and East European Jewish Studies in Moscow are pleased to invite applications for the 4th session of the International Forum of Young Scholars on East European Jewry, to be held in Budapest, Hungary on July, 6-9, 2009.

Its purpose is to promote the research and career progress of promising young scholars from all countries.

This is an ongoing forum, comprised of 15 advanced Ph.D. students (ABD) and recent Ph.D.s (before tenure-track appointments). It meets periodically and is intended to allow these young scholars an opportunity for cross-fertilization in their fields with their own peers and with an esteemed group of senior scholars led by Profs. Israel Bartal, Dan Diner, David Engel, Zvi Gitelman, Oleg Budnitskii, and Gabriella Safran. We invite candidates in all branches of the humanities and the social sciences connected to the study of East European Jewry.

The first session of the International Forum was held at the Dubnow Institute in Leipzig in July 2004. The second session was hosted by the Vilnius Center in July 2005.
