Российская государственная библиотека по искусству приглашает принять участие в научной конференции Шестые Международные Михоэлсовские чтения, которые пройдут 24-25 ноября 2009 г. Конференция 2007 года продолжает рассмотрение научной проблемы «Национальный театр в контексте многонациональной культуры». Театроведы, филологи, библиографы, сотрудники библиотек, музеев, архивов, а также книговеды, редакторы и издатели, журналисты, преподаватели и другие специалисты, занимающиеся проблемами национального театра и межнациональных театральных связей, приглашаются принять участие в Чтениях.

The 5th International Conference of the series The History and Culture of East European Jewry: New Sources, New Approaches Jewish Press in Russia Moscow, December 9-11, 2007
The International Center for Russian & East European Jewish Studies held the 5th Annual International Conference of the series The History and Culture of East European Jewry: New Sources, New Approaches in Moscow on December 9-11, 2007. The topic of the 2007 conference was the Jewish Press in Russia.The Conference venue is Hotel Izmaylovo Gamma Delta (Moscow, Izmaylovskoje shosse, 71, korpus 4-GD), conference hall Yaroslavl. Please find below the conference programme and the information how to get to the hotel. The conference was devoted to the history of Jewish press and publications issued in Russia and Russian foreign communities in Russian and Jewish languages in the 19th and 20th centuries. A lot of attention was drawn to the history of the formation of Jewish periodical press in the Russian Empire, the role of Jewish press in the development of Russian Jews’ national self-identification and in the political struggle of the 20th century.The papers devoted to the activity of the editors of major newspapers and magazines and people who played a significant role in the history of Russian/Soviet Jewish community irrespective of their political preferences and sympathies were presented.The works on polemic campaigns held on the pages of Jewish periodical press that disclose authors’ and editors’ special techniques and methods and tell about the way graphic and illustrative materials were used in the press in 19th - 20th centuries were also included in the programme. Within the frame of the conference the presentation of the latest publications focused on Russian Jewish History was held. The following books were presented:
